English midfielder Ruben Loftus Cheek is unhappy at Chelsea due to the lack of adequate playing time, reports Daily Mail. The 22-year-old former Crystal Palace midfielder, who was a part of Gareth Southgate’s 23-man squad that flew to Russia and participated in the FIFA World Cup, has only made 3 appearances under Maurizio Sarri this season.
After his impressive performances for another English Premier League side Crystal Palace in the 2017-18 season, it was widely touted that Ruben would eventually become a key player in Chelsea’s squad. However, that has not happened and the player is keen to leave Chelsea in search of greener pastures.
Crystal Palace, a club where he spent the 2017-18 season and impressed, are reportedly interested in signing this highly talented player again. While Chelsea’s rivals Arsenal, who are performing well under the tutelage of Unai Emery, will also considering bringing Ruben should they not retain Aaron Ramsey, who reportedly is close to leaving Arsenal. Another English Premier League outfit Everton are also interested to sign this midfielder who has huge potential.
Last season, Loftus-Cheek was impressive for Crystal Palace. If he gets proper playing time, there is no doubt that he will go on to become one of the best midfielders in the near future. However, things have not gone as expected for Ruben at Chelsea. He thought he would have been able to crack into the playing XI, but hasn’t.
There is no surprise when reports emerge suggesting Ruben wants to leave Chelsea. He has a bright future waiting for him ahead of the road and wasting his time at substitute bench will affect the player’s development. Going back to Crystal Palace or joining Arsenal would be a better option for Ruben, given he gets proper playing time there. It remains to be seen what eventually will happen. Will Chelsea loan-out the player again or will they decide to retain the player?
